Debian Newbie Mailing List

The purpose of this list is to enable existing Debian users to help people who are beginning to use Debian. New users ("newbies") can post questions to the list by email. Copies of the email are sent to others who subscribe to the list. Subscribers can reply to the list with answers or suggestions.

Before posting a question to the list

• Subscribe to the list (first time only) at http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/d-community-newbie
• confirm your subscription by following the instructions in resulting email message.
• Also check the archives for similar questions and responses at http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/d-community-newbie/.

How to send a question to the list

• Send an email containing your query to d-community-newbie@lists.alioth.debian.org.

How to help others

• Subscribe to the list (as above)
• keep an eye on emails forwarded to you from the list, and
• reply to the list (not the original poster) if you can offer any suggestions, help, advice, etc.
• Quote all or part of the original question if it helps, and write your reply/replies beneath the quote(s) - "bottom posting".
